Mark Ilgen, PhD is a clinical psychologist and a health services researcher with an interest in improving outcomes for individuals with problematic alcohol and drug use. He is currently the Albert J. Silverman Research Professor of Psychiatric Disorders in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan and a Research Career Scientist with the VA Center for Clinical Management Research. A core focus of Dr. Ilgen’s work has been on understanding substance use as a risk factor for suicide, including work to test the efficacy of interventions to reduce suicide risk. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. Currently, he is one of the co-Directors of the VA’s National Suicide Prevention Research Impact NeTwork (SPRINT) COnsortia of REsearch (CORE).
