Dr. Inger Burnett‑Zeigler is the Chief Behavioral Health Officer for the State of Illinois, leading statewide collaboration to transform behavioral health systems and expand support for residents most in need. A licensed clinical psychologist, she previously served as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. With over two decades of clinical experience, she integrates evidence‑based therapy and mindfulness to address stress, trauma, and mood and anxiety disorders. Her research focuses on how structural and social determinants shape mental health disparities and has guided the development of culturally tailored, community‑based interventions. A nationally recognized advocate, she consults across sectors and contributes to major media outlets. Dr. Burnett‑Zeigler is a proud South‑Side Chicagoan committed to advancing equitable mental health care.
