As gambling opportunities continue to expand, so does the risk of gambling-related harm. This presentation provides an overview of problem gambling and gambling disorder, with a focus on recognition, prevalence, and practical screening strategies. Participants will learn to identify key warning signs of problem gambling, examine current data of the impact on individuals, families, and communities, and understand why early identification is critical in clinical and community settings. The session will also introduce evidence-based problem gambling screening assessments that can be implemented within treatment centers to support early detection and appropriate referral.
